Available Position: Water Superintendent

The position of Water Superintendent is currently available in the Kinross Charter Township Water and Sewer Department. Applicants who do not already have the required licensure will not be considered.

Position Description

Department: Water and Sewer Department

Supervisor(s): Township Supervisor

Reports to (of other than above): Township Board

Subordinates: Water & Sewer Personnel

Position Status: Full-Time Salary

Required Licenses/Certification: S2-D2 Water Licenses

Required Education/Training: High school diploma. Must be available to attend out of town/overnight training, when requested. Must be able to take and pass written or oral examination, as well as physical examination relating to ability to perform job duties.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Oversee operation of the Township's water supply, including wells and distribution system.
  • Organize workload and supervise workers on the distribution and collection system.
  • Prepare and/or review daily log reports.
  • Review and approve all purchase orders pertaining to the water budget/system.
  • Operate Chlorination and fluoridation equipment.
  • Responsible for water sampling.
  • Prepare employee evaluations for subordinates.
  • Assist with "Right to know" program.
  • Responsible for Cross Connection Program.
  • Perform and/or supervise maintenance on water system, wells, and collection system.
  • Disinfect new water lines and elevated towers when required.
  • Update MSDS sheets as needed.
  • Understand and support the policies in the Safety Manual of Kinross Township and be able to convey them to subordinates.
  • Prepare annual Budget for Drinking water.
  • Attend Township Board meetings.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS WITH STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FIXED PRICE DESIGN & BUILD PROJECT

The Charter Township of Kinross invites proposals for the design and installation of new electrical and control systems in its Wastewater Treatment Plant Trickling Filter Pumphouse, and statements of qualification and experience of those wishing to provide such services for the following project:

Trickling Filter Pumphouse Improvements, SRF Project 5611-03

Project Description: Removal of, and replacement of, outdated electrical and control systems for six (6) pumps servicing the plants trickling filters.

Design shall include (1.) identification of appropriate replacement equipment, (2.) initial design and electrical schematics, (3.) interfacing of these improvements with the plant’s SCADA, and (4.) final “as built” design and electrical schematics.

Project Funding: SRF Project 5611-03. Project Contract shall include all language to meet State Revolving Fund requirements and certifications, such as Davis Bacon Wage, American Iron & Steel, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises.

Statement of Qualification should include, as a minimum, the following:
A.) Background on the firm and the scope of services it provides
B.) Firm’s experience with trickling filter/anaerobic digestion Waste Water Treatment Facilities
C.) Involvement with such systems located in the Upper Peninsula or areas with similar weather conditions
D.) Identify any experience the firm and/or its current personnel have had with the Kinross Township system

Proposal shall include the following:
A.) Manufacturer of, and specifications on, components to be installed.
B.) Timeline for design, implementation, and completion.
C.) Outline of construction plan which does not negatively impact plant operations.
D.) Proposed price and payment schedule.
