Sanitary Sewer Overflow Notice

20 April 2022

On April 19th, 2022 there was a sanitary sewer overflow at the RV East campground in Kinross Charter Township. Approximately 500 gallons of wastewater are estimated to have overflowed at the site. Within 24 hours, employees with the water and sewer department had identified the overflow, vacuumed, and raked the site. No complications are anticipated from this event, and no health hazards are anticipated.

Whenever any resident believes an overflow is occurring, they should be sure to contact our wastewater treatment plant at 906-495-5134 or our emergency line at 906-440-2829. This helps our team can get to work addressing the issue as soon as possible.

April 18th Board Meeting

A regular meeting of the Kinross Charter Township Board will be held on at the Township Hall.

Prior to the meeting, questions and input may be given by emailing kclerk@kinross.net. These meetings are open to the public. Members of the public attending the board meeting are asked to please wear a mask unless they are fully vaccinated.

Spring Clean-Up Scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022

Each residence is allowed 2 cubic yards of material with a 500 pound maximum. This is equal to one full-size pick-up bed loaded to the top rail. Please do not place any items at the curb until the day before, or morning of May 14th.

  • All trash must be bagged, boxed, or bundled.
  • Dump Passes good May 8 - May 14, 2021
  • Curbside pick-up will start at 6:00am.
  • Senior citizens are encouraged to call the Township Hall at 906-495-5381 x102 in advance, to arrange for assistance.
  • Refrigerators and air conditioners must be Freon-free and tagged.

No pick-up of hazardous materials, fluorescent light bulbs, tires, computer monitors, or paints.

For household hazardous waste disposal, contact Northern Transitions, Inc. at 906-635-5681.

Do not put compost at the curb.

It is state law--refuse handlers cannot accept leaves and brush.

Kinross Township residents may pick up a "Dump Pass" at the Township Hall. GFL at 3239 W. M-28 in Brimley will be open Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

3-Man Super Scramble and Noreen Lajambe Memorial 4-Woman Scramble at the Oaks

Two of our scrambles have officially been scheduled for the 2022 golf season at the Oaks!

The 3-Man Super Scramble has been scheduled for July 15th, 16th, and 17th. The Noreen Lajambe Memorial 4-Woman Scramble has been scheduled for August 10th. Forms can be downloaded on our golf page to be submitted in person with payment. Forms and payment can be turned into the Pro Shop once it has opened, or to the Township Hall administrative office immediately.
